First localised climate column on Leader online

30 Jul 2021

Monash University’s Climate Change Communication Research Hub and Leader online newspapers are collaborating to provide easy-to-read information on climate change through Leader online newspapers. The regular column - the first in Victoria - delivers localised weather and climate information from a climate scientist at Monash University.

The first article highlights how Merri-bek’s July temperatures aren’t as cold as they used to be with the average daytime temperature now sitting at 14 degrees, which is around 1 degree warmer than it was 50 years ago.

It also highlights how this rise in temperature is being felt across our supermarket shelves with the price of food increasing.

As part of the collaboration, Merri-bek City Council will continue to work with Monash University to provide local information that can be included in future articles.
