A new trail map has been launched by Merri-bek City Council to guide residents and visitors to great places to have fun throughout the municipality.
The third trail map, called ‘At Your Leisure’ features local leisure activities including Coburg’s famous Drive-In Cinema, Glenroy’s iconic bowling club, Northcote Pottery Supplies and so much more.
This third map follows on from two previous maps released earlier in 2023. The first features home-grown local breweries and distilleries, while the second map features live music venues and record stores throughout Merri-bek.
Each trail map showcases the businesses featured and includes public transport options and bike paths, to make it easy to navigate a route through your chosen trail.
Acting Mayor of Merri-bek, Cr Helen Davidson said the trail maps offer a fun, easy way for people to explore and support local businesses.
“We have your plans sorted for after work or the weekend – we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to having fun in Merri-bek,” Cr Davidson said.
“Whether an evening of axe-throwing is your scene, or a glass of wine and painting takes your fancy, there’s a leisurely activity to keep you entertained in our latest trail map.
“I encourage all Merri-bek residents and visitors to check out our trail maps and support our vibrant and unique local businesses!”
Jessica from GoClimb in Coburg said, “we’re so excited to be a part of the Merri-Bek trail map. What a great way to get the community out and about in the local area. We can’t wait to welcome lots of new faces!”
Local creatives were employed to design and produce the trail maps. Map illustrations were created by artist Laura Holley (Lawz Drawz) who drew the facades of the featured businesses and Barney Sullivan of Seeing Things directed the overall graphic design. Emma McMillan crafted copywriting and local printer Kwik Kopy produced the maps.
Each map can be downloaded from the Love Merri-bek website, and will be available for pick-up from each of the featured businesses.
