Business Merri-bek is our team of Economic Development officers who support existing businesses, and seeks to attract new companies, industry investment and jobs to Merri-bek. We work across all Council branches, and have strategic partnerships with key industry, regional and state stakeholders.

Maria Rico
A first point of contact to advance key commercial and industrial investment projects. Maria supports growing businesses to remain in Merri-bek, and new investment projects that grow local jobs.

Supports and links larger and growing businesses to grants, funding, government programs and contacts. This position also works across key industry and sector projects linked to business growth, workforce development and employment.

Elissa Barlow
Facilitates the retail sector of Merri-bek's shopping strips. Elissa also works to increase visitation and promotion of Merri-bek and facilitates the growth of the design and creative sectors.

Elisa Grassa
Provides support to new and existing businesses, start-ups, home-based business owners, entrepreneurs and those thinking about starting a business venture. Elisa coordinates Business Merri-bek’s events and programs.

Mira Mustafa
Provides administrative project support to the team, coordinates business enquiries, event management and planning. Mira also looks after the rollout of the Moreland Christmas and other Celebrations program across the municipality.
