2021 to 2022 completed projects

In 2022 we completed the streetscape improvements to the Gaffney Village Shopping Strip. The aim of this project was to revitalise the area and improve pedestrian amenity, walkability and presentation of the shopping strip. Key improvements included:
- Upgrading the footpaths including new paving, kerb and channel
- Landscaping, including new street trees and rain gardens
- Upgrading the street furniture with additional bench seats, bins, raised planters and bicycle hoops
- New raised pedestrian crossings on Railway Parade and at the intersecion of Railway Parade and Fawker Road
- New street furniture in front of Pascoe Vale train station
- Road line markings and tactile indicators at pedestrian crossings
2020 to 2021 completed projects

In 2020 we completed road reconstruction on Daphne Street, Pascoe Vale between O’Hea Street and Waratah Street. The budget for this project was $365,000 and construction was completed between August and December 2020.
The works included:
- The construction of a new underground drainage system and pits
- Reconstructing the existing concrete kerb and channel.
- Reconstructing the existing road pavement.
- Laying a new asphalt road surface.
- The reconstruction of vehicle crossings between the new kerb and footpath edge.
- The reinstatement of nature strips.

In 2020 we demolished and rebuilt the public toilet at Raeburn Reserve. This was part of the Merri-bek Public Toilet Strategy. The new public toilet block has one unisex DDA compliant accessible toilet.
2019 to 2020 completed projects

In 2019 we upgraded the play space at Austin Crescent Reserve. This was part of the Merri-bek Play Strategy 2016-20. The play space upgrade included nature based play elements, swings, native fauna sculptures, and more.
2018 to 2019 completed projects

In 2018 we upgraded the play space at Kelvin Thomson Park. We installed all new equipment, built nature play features, and installed a flying fox. We also built a basketball half court, and new garden beds for shade and food production.

In 2018 we completed road reconstruction on Kevin Street, Pascoe Vale between Derby Street and Ray Street. The budget for this project was $325,000 and construction was completed between September and December 2018.
The works included:
- The construction of a new underground drainage system and pits.
- Reconstructing the existing concrete kerb and channel.
- Laying a new asphalt road surface.
- The reconstruction of vehicle crossings between the new kerb and footpath edge.
- The reinstatement of nature strips.

In 2018 we completed road reconstruction on Marsden Avenue, Wadham Street and Winona Grove, Pascoe Vale South. The budget for this project was $952,000 and construction was completed between July and December 2018.
The works included:
- The construction of a new underground drainage system and pits.
- Reconstructing the existing concrete kerb and channel.
- Laying a new asphalt road surface.
- The reconstruction of vehicle crossings between the new kerb and footpath edge.
- The reinstatement of nature strips.

In 2018 we completed road reconstruction on Mitchell Parade, Pascoe Vale South between Bell Street and Vaux Street. The budget for this project was $665,000 and construction was completed between September 2017 and January 2018.
The works included:
- The construction of a new underground drainage system and pits.
- Reconstructing the existing concrete kerb and channel. The levels have been altered to flatten the road and improve vehicle access into properties.
- Laying a new asphalt road surface.
- The reconstruction of vehicle crossings between the new kerb and footpath edge.
- The reinstatement of nature strips.

In 2018 we completed road reconstruction on Mitchell Parade, Pascoe Vale South between Reynard Street and Vaux Street. The budget for the project was $622,105 and construction was completed between August and December 2018.
The works comprised:
- The construction of a new underground drainage system and pits.
- Reconstructing the existing concrete kerb and channel.
- Reconstructing the existing road pavement.
- Laying a new asphalt road surface.
- The reconstruction of vehicle crossings between the new kerb and footpath edge.
- The reinstatement of nature strips.

In 2018 we completed an expansion project on the Merri-bek Toy Library. The Merri-bek Toy Library was to expand its service to Pascoe Vale. The service is now at the Pascoe Vale Pool and accessed through the community room. This facility contributes to another service offered alongside the new Pascoe Vale Community Facility. The budget for this project is $33,000.

In 2018 we completed road reconstruction on Northgate Street, Pascoe Vale between Bolingbroke Street and Cleve Road. The budget for this project was $525,000 and construction was completed between September and February 2017.
The works included:
- The construction of a new underground drainage system and pits.
- Reconstructing the existing concrete kerb and channel. The level will be altered to flatten the road and improve vehicle access into properties.
- Laying a new asphalt road surface.
- The reconstruction of vehicle crossings between the new kerb and footpath edge.
- The reinstatement of nature strips.

The works included:

Oak Park
2020 to 2020 completed projects

In 2020 we upgraded the playground at Oak Park Reserve. This was part of the Merri-bek Play Strategy 2016-20. The new playground includes new play equipment and nature play elements. For more details see the documents below.

2018 to 2019 completed projects

In 2018 we completed the redevelopment of the Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre. The Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre redevelopment was our largest ever capital works project. The $27.3m project was funded entirely by the community, with no assistance provided by the State or Federal Government.
The project involved a range of consultation with the community in the development of designs and plans. This included an online survey, community information sessions and a community workshop.
The redevelopment included:
- A new 50 metre x 8 lane outdoor heated pool with entry ramp
- A new outdoor heated learn to swim pool
- A new outdoor heated children’s play pool with water play equipment and beach entry
- A new sports pavilion
- New water slides
- New gymnasiums
- Wet and dry change facilities
- Accessible change rooms
- Reception and back of house facilities
- A kiosk and retail space
- A multi-purpose and group fitness space
- A studio
- Landscaped areas
- Parking and traffic flow improvements
2017 to 2018

In 2017 we upgraded the park and play space at Bryant Family Reserve. This included adding a new swing, a nature play area, and new seating and garden beds. We also refurbished existing play equipment, increased the size of the basketball half court, and improved the paths.

In 2017 we completed the construction of new netball courts at Cole Reserve in Pascoe Vale. This project was funded by the Victorian Government’s $9.6 million Inner City Netball Program that aimed to build 64 competition compliant netball courts in inner-Melbourne. The budget for this project was $286,322.

In 2017 we completed road reconstruction on Downs Street, Pascoe Vale between Essex Street and Sims Street. We undertook consultation with the residents in March 2017. This project had a budget of $385,000 and construction was completed between August and September 2017.
The works included:
- The construction of a new underground drainage system and pits.
- Reconstructing the existing concrete kerb and channel. The level will be altered to flatten the road and improve vehicle access into properties.
- The reconstruction of the road pavement and laying a new asphalt road surface.
