On Friday 31 May, Council was made aware that a spam email had begun circulating, which appeared to come from Merri-bek City Council.

This email was not sent by Council, our systems remain secure and have not been compromised.

The fraudulent email appears to come from info@merri-bek.vic.gov.au with the subject “Donation cash grant” and the below wording. If you receive this email, please disregard it and delete it immediately.

Did you receive our previous message? If yes decline this message otherwise; We want to use this opportunity to re-inform you that you have been selected to receive a cash donation of €2,500,000 Euro from Frances & Patrick Connolly.

Kindly get back to us for further information on the funds claim process.
