Seeking expressions of interest from social enterprises for a café at the Glenroy Community Hub

17 Oct 2022

We are looking for expressions of interest from social enterprise organisations to manage and operate a take-away cafe outlet at the newly constructed Glenroy Community Hub at 50 Wheatsheaf Road, Glenroy.

This is a great opportunity for an organisation to deliver a viable business while creating positive outcomes for the local community. Social enterprises that can demonstrate how their management of the café will create positive social outcomes are encouraged to express interest.

Subject to Council approval and associated statutory requirements, a 3 x 3-year lease is on offer at a peppercorn rent, which means a very low rent.

The café will be located in a refurbished heritage shed at the Hub. The Hub is Merri-bek’s largest and most environmentally sustainable community centre and houses a Children’s Centre, kindergarten, library and health services.

How to express interest

Expressions of interest open at 9.00am on Monday 17 October 2022 and close at 5:00pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on Monday 21 November 2022.

Submissions must be lodged electronically by uploading on Council’s eTenderBox Supplier Portal

A final decision to confirm the successful proponent is expected by mid-2023.

Expression of interest number - EOI-2022-357.
