Children's Reference Group
On this page:
The Merri-bek Children’s Reference Group was established in 2023 with the aim of creating better connections with local government and providing children with the opportunity to have a say on matters that impact upon them. The Children's Reference Group provides an opportunity for nominated primary school aged children, from grades 5 and 6, to provide advice and input into Council’s plans, projects, policies and strategies. At each Children’s Reference Group meeting, different areas within Council present information and seek input and feedback on their work from the children in interactive and engaging ways.
Each year, the Children’s Reference Group is comprised of 2 nominated students from each participating primary school in Merri-bek. Members meet once a term, for 90 minutes, with 4 meetings in total. A teacher or a school staff member from each participating school is also present during the meetings.
