Public notice - Proposed realignment: Glenroy - Oak Park suburb boundary

12 Sep 2025

Merri-bek City Council have identified several properties affected by an incorrect boundary alignment due to development and land subdivision.

According to the Australian New Zealand Standards for Rural and Urban Addressing’ ‘Boundaries of localities in areas that are subject to development should be reviewed and amended where appropriate.’

The Official Naming Rules for Places in Victoria, Section 5.2.1 also outlines that ‘If a property is situated on a corner and the block is subdivided with one or more of the new properties accessed from a road generally being addressed to a different locality, the locality boundary should be changed to incorporate the new subdivided properties’

As Council is the street numbering authority, we are proposing to make slight changes to the suburb boundary that abuts these properties to adhere to the regulations.

This proposed suburb boundary realignment, if approved by Council, would only change the property address of the three identified land parcels. No other addresses will change. The boundary realignment would simply move the boundary to incorporate all Barina Road properties into Oak Park.

See current and proposed boundary images for further detail.
