Proposed sale of Council-owned land at the rear of 436-442 Sydney Road, Coburg

Merri-bek City Council, in accordance with Section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020, gives notice of its intention to sell the Council-owned land at the rear of 436-442 Sydney Road, Coburg.

Council has retained ownership of a small parcel of land (84sqm), located at the rear of 436-442 Sydney Road, Coburg (‘the Property’). The Property was formerly a road and now runs along the back of 4 properties fronting Sydney Road.

The owner of the 4 shops has applied to purchase the land, which has been declared surplus to Council’s needs.

It is Council's intention to sell the land by a private treaty to the applicant in accordance with the State Government’s ‘Local Government Best Practice Guidelines for the Sale, Exchange and Transfer of Land.

In accordance with Council’s Community Engagement Policy, we are inviting feedback from the community on the proposal to sell the site.

Any person wishing to provide feedback on the proposal must do using any of the below methods by no later than 5.00 pm on 21 April 2026.

All feedback will be provided to Council at a future meeting at which Council may decide whether or not to proceed with the sale of the site
