New partnership for the management of Council's Aquatic and Leisure Services

In August 2025, Council decided to undertake a public tender process for the management of its aquatic and leisure centres. Following a comprehensive evaluation process last Wednesday Council endorsed the awarding of the new contract to Belgravia Leisure.
Council extends its sincere thanks to the YMCA Victoria for the positive impact the organisation has had on our community through its delivery of aquatic and leisure programs, swim education, and broader wellbeing initiatives, which have been significant. The relationships built with staff, user groups, and the wider community are deeply valued, and Council genuinely appreciates the contributions the YMCA and its team have made across Merri-bek over many years.
Council and Belgravia Leisure will work together so that staff wishing to continue working at these aquatic and leisure centres will receive offers of employment with the new operator.
As the contract is still being finalised, further information will be provided in the coming weeks.
Council is looking forward to this new partnership and working with Belgravia Leisure in the management of Council's Aquatic and Leisure Services.
