Merri-bek says no to ageism and yes to celebrating age with Bolder
On this page:
In the lead up to Senior’s Festival, Merri-bek has launched Bolder, a photographic and storytelling project celebrating the lives, experiences and contribution of our amazing, diverse older community.
Bolder features portrait photographs of older people in our community, along with the stories of their lives and perspective on age.
The project aims to challenge stereotypes of age and ageing and highlight the value, wisdom and contribution older people make to our community.
Ageism, age-based discrimination and negative attitudes around age can lead to elder abuse. We all have a part to play in making our community safe and inclusive for everyone and ensuring that older people in our community are respected, valued, seen, heard and included.
Visit Conversations Merri-bek | Bolder to view the online exhibition and stories from participants or drop into Glenroy Community Hub to view the exhibition on the digital screens. The exhibition will also be shown on the digital screen in Michelle Guglielmo Park, Brunswick and on street posters around Merri-bek during Seniors Festival throughout October.
