Recognised as an innovative and supportive leader, both staff and councillors were saddened by Cathy’s decision, and wish her well in her new role.

During Ms Henderson’s leadership, Council navigated the COVID-19 crisis, delivered over $200 million worth of capital projects, such as the new Glenroy Community Hub, Fawkner Aquatic Leisure Centre, and Balam Balam Place, while continuing to invest in core services such as aged care.
“Cathy has been the driving force of customer-service excellence, by putting our community at the centre of everything we do as a Council. Cathy is widely respected as an innovative and supportive leader”, said Mayor Davidson.
“Merri-bek is stronger and better positioned for the future thanks to her leadership”, added Mayor Davidson.
“Merri-bek is blessed with a wonderful, diverse community and a committed and effective Council. It has been a privilege to work with the Mayor and Councillors, and lead the staff team – who strive every day to get better outcomes for the Merri-bek community. I know Merri-bek has a bright future ahead”, said Ms Henderson.
Cathy Henderson will conclude her role as CEO Merri-bek City Council on 24 October to take up the role of CEO of WorkSafe Victoria.
