Play streets and street parties
On this page:
Play Streets or Street Parties are small-scale gatherings in a residential street where neighbours of all ages can connect, normally lasting 2-3 hours. They are resident organised and run, designed to bring neighbours together in a relaxed community focused atmosphere, safe from car traffic.
Play Streets and Street Parties are not large-scale community events and should not be open to the general public - if your street event will have over 100 people attending who live on the street, you'll need to apply for an Event Permit.
Please note, the Toolkit was originally created for Play Streets, but the same process applies to Street Party applications. Those involved in leading a Play Street or Street Party must agree to and abide by the Terms and Conditions provided by Council.
Our Toolkit provides a step-by-step guide to help you organise your event. Please ensure you read the Toolkit before making an application.
