Fawkner Festa is a free outdoor community event that celebrates and showcases the vibrant and diverse community of Fawkner. The event includes performances, community stallholders, food vendors, children's activities, and workshops.

Since its beginning in 2008, Fawkner Festa has become a highlight in the Merri-bek events calendar, as a way for residents to come together, and experience all that Fawkner has to offer.

Fawkner Festa is returning in 2025—bigger, brighter, and more vibrant than ever! 

From live music and cultural performances to interactive workshops and delicious food, Fawkner Festa is a day for everyone to enjoy—and a chance for celebrate all that the Fawkner community has to offer.

  • This year at Fawkner Festa, we’re very excited to be pairing with Fawkner Marketplace. Inside the Fawkner Community Sports Hall, you’ll find a wonderful collection of locally made, one-of-a-kind artisan products. It’s the perfect place to pick up something unique while also supporting our incredible local makers and creators. 

    To make the experience even more special, we’ve got live music in the marketplace. The talented Sagar Tiwari will be performing at 12:30 and again at 1:30, so you can enjoy some beautiful tunes while you browse and shop. 

    Make sure you head over to the Fawkner Marketplace, it’s a true celebration of local talent, creativity, and community spirit. 

  • Step into a poetic, hands-on ritual of connection. A sensorial live art experience inviting you to weave a shared story of gesture, sound and thread,  a tender call to return to what truly matters.

  • Mural Painting with artist Emma Ismawi

    11am-3pm 

    Join with students from Moomba Park Primary School as they help paint a new mural by artist Emma Ismawi outside the Fawkner Maternal and Child Health Centre. 

    The mural has been co-created with students, exploring their ideas and feelings about nature 

    Counihan Goes North: Creature Creature T-Shirt Printing Workshop 

    12pm & 1pm 

    oin Melbourne artists Creature Creature (Ambrose and Chanel) for a fun, hands-on workshop where you’ll design and take home your very own t-shirt. 

    Using hand-carved stamps featuring their iconic imagery – from bunnies and dragonflies to lily pads – you’ll be guided through choosing your designs, arranging yourand composition, and printing it directly onto a shirt. his free and easy interactive workshop is a chance to collaborate with the artists, get creative, and leave with a unique keepsake you’ve made yourself.

    The Messy Club  

    11:00am-1pm 

     Let your little ones dive into a world of textures, colours and creativity! The Messy Club will set up engaging sensory trays designed to spark imagination and hands-on play. Perfect for curious minds, this free drop-in activity encourages exploration, discovery and fun. 

    Suitable for age 2+, all children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.  

  • 11am-3pm 

    This year be sure to check out our youth space at the skate bowl, specifically curated for the young people of Fawkner! We are certain you’ll find something to get involved with.

    Green My Plate  

    This year at Fawkner Festa, we will be engaging Green My Plate. Green My Plate is a sustainable service aimed at eliminating single-use food packaging from events. When you head to one of our fabulous food vendors, you will notice they are serving food and drinks on reusable plates and cups. Once you have finished with your meal, please return the items to the pink bins located around the event, then, the team at Green my Plate will collect and wash them for us to reuse! 

Important Information

  • Fawkner Festa is single-use plastic free event so please bring a reusable water bottle or cup. 
  • Drinking taps will be available on site. 
  • First Aid is available on site.   

Getting to Fawkner Festa

Fawkner Festa is located at CB Smith Reserve Carpark, 79 Jukes Road, Fawkner.  

Come to Fawkner Festa by bicycle!  

There is plenty of secure bike parking available outside the new Fawkner Leisure Centre and Fawkner Senior Citizens Hall. 

You can also avoid traffic by using a bike trail. The closest trails to Fawkner Festa are:  

  • Merri Creek Trail  
  • Upfield shared path  
  • Western Ring Road Trail

Public Transport 

The following transport lines have routes that pass near Jukes Road:

Merri-bek City Council encourages you to walk, cycle or use public transport to travel to and from the festival. 

Parking 

Accessible parking is available in the main Fawkner Leisure Centre carpark. 

Street parking will be available. Please ensure to read parking signs. 

Accessibility  

The Fawkner Festa site is physically accessible. Accessible bathrooms are available outside the Fawkner Library. The Welcome to Country and opening speeches will have Auslan Interpreters. Wardens will be on-site in Merri-bek Festivals t-shirts and can be approached to help with any access needs or questions.  

Expect lively music and a friendly, bustling atmosphere, however, there are activities in quieter spaces such as the library and a quiet space to relax in. If you have any specific access or other needs, please ask one of our friendly staff in the pink or black “Arts Merri-bek” t-shirts.
