Treaty Yarn

Join us for a free community conversation about Treaty in Victoria and what it means for First Peoples and the wider community.

Facilitated by Troy Austin and Indi Clarke from the Gellung Warl / First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria, this yarning session will provide an update on the progress of Treaty, explain what Treaty means in practice, and explore how community members can support Treaty as Victoria approaches the 2026 State Election.

This is an opportunity to hear directly from First Peoples leaders, ask questions, and learn more about the role Treaty can play in advancing self determination, truth telling, healing and accountability.

My name is Troy Austin. I am a proud Gunditjmara man, born and raised in Naarm. For decades, I have worked tirelessly for our community, listening, advocating and turning up when it matters. I have represented our people across many boards and committees, always guided by integrity, passion and pride. We walk in the footsteps of our Elders and ancestors. We honour them by strengthening our cultures and languages, growing economic opportunities, improving social and emotional wellbeing and standing firm to stop Deaths in Custody and the removal of our children. We have signed Treaty, but the work does not stop there.
