Exhibition Opening: heavy body history, Beacon and the Winter Night Screen

Join us for the launch of 'heavy body history: Merri-bek Collection and Recent Works', 'Beacon' and the 'Winter Night Screen'.

Curated by Maya Hodge, a proud Lardil curator and writer, 'heavy body history: Merri-bek Collection and Recent Works' highlights the power of art to disrupt colonial narratives, honour bloodlines, and inspire future generations.

‘Beacon’ is an exhibition by artists from Arts Access Victoria’s Artstop Studio. This exhibition explores the concept of disability, identity, safety, and communication through light and colour.

The 'Winter Night Screen' is an annual program showcasing contemporary moving image works that are projected onto a window of the Brunswick Town Hall. Facing Sydney Road, the screen lights up nightly from 5pm to 11pm throughout July and August. This year we are featuring three artists: Ma Ei, Gabrielle Leah New, and Danish Quapoor.

To learn more about the exhibitions, visit our heavy body history: Merri-bek Collection and Recent Works exhibition page, our Beacon exhibition page and our Winter Night Screen  exhibition page.
