Understanding the Voice to Parliament
This year Australians will have the chance to vote in a referendum on whether to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia in the Constitution through an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.
The Voice would be an independent, representative body for First Nations people. Come along to a neutral educational session to learn more about The Voice Referendum.
Topics covered will include:
- A "Crash Course" on the Constitution and Amendments to it
- A brief history of the proposed Voice Amendment
- What the Ballot looks like and an explanation of the Amendment.
- What happens if the amendment passes
There will also be time for a Q&A session following the presentation.
This session is run by Naarm Law Students on Voice.
