The History of Scouting in Victorian Reformatory Prisons

8 pm, Wednesday 20 September Coburg Library Historian Colin Rimington will discuss the introduction of Scouting to Pentridge and Castlemaine Reformatories by Inspector General Joseph Akeroyd in the 1920s. He will also explain how the principles of scouting influenced the young men who took part. In many cases it enabled them to learn skills which would in prevent them from reoffending following their release. Presented by the Coburg Historical Society Registrations essential.
