LOCKED UP in Pentridge’s D Division

Take a step back in time and join us on a 60-minute tour through D Division and learn about the history of Pentridge Prison. Pentridge Prison, established in 1851, is a heritage-listed former prison located in Coburg, Victoria. D Division holds historical significance as it was initially the first women's prison in 1894 before becoming the Metropolitan Remand Centre for the Victoria justice system and where 11 executions took place. Tours are led by ex prison officers and inmates who have firsthand experience, offering visitors a distinct and immersive encounter. Visitors can explore all three tiers of D Division, the condemned and observation cells, hallways, exercise yard, and the gallows where the executions took place between 1932 and 1967, including the last woman and man executed in Australia, Jean Lee and Ronald Ryan. We are offering private group bookings of 10 or more, so if you are part of a club, a corporate organisation or a group of friends who would like an intimate tour please contact us.
