Join us for the launch of Manifesto and Volume: Bodies of Knowledge.

‘Manifesto’ brings together works from the Merri-bek Art Collection that demonstrate the relationship between words and action.

‘Manifesto’ includes works by Megan Cope, Vicki Couzens, Emily Floyd, Deanna Hitti, Hootan Heydari, Alana Holmberg, Ruth Maddison, Jordan Marani, Ben McKeown, Brian McKinnon, Chips Mackinolty, George Matoulas, Hayley Millar Baker, Monica Oppen, Rose Nolan, Carol Porter, Steven Rhall and Kelvin Skewes.

'Volume: Bodies of Knowledge' is the latest iteration of the Community Reading Room project. Through video, tapestry, photography, painting, printmaking and participatory installation, the artists shift the focus from the written word as the privileged material of the archive. Instead, the artists invite us to consider the body as an archive.

This exhibition features works by Denise Chapman, Ema Tavola, Emele Ugavule, Jane Chang Mi, Kelly Ka-Lai Chan, Laniyuk, Lia Pa’apa’a, Shivanjani Lal, Stéphanie Kabanyana Kanyandekwe. Curated by Torika Bolatagici.

Speeches begin at 2.30pm with a Welcome to Country by Wurundjeri Elder.

Cr Mark Riley will officially launch the exhibitions.

Did we mention there will be a tipple or two from Noisy Ritual and some snacks from Zaatar?
