Resistance and resilience: Brunswick during the Great Depression

We can only be in awe of the generation of Australians who survived the Great Depression little more than a decade after the Great War.

Professor Emerita Joan Beaumont and author of Australia’s Great Depression will discuss how Brunswick, savagely hit by unemployment, became the site of some of the most powerful protests against the “susso”, home evictions and the repression of free speech.

Registrations are essential and can be made through the Merri-bek Library EventBrite page.
