Great Southern BioBlitz
In 2022, Merri-bek is participating in the Great Southern Bioblitz.
Join in with cities from across the southern hemisphere by using iNaturalist to log your photos or sound recordings of the wild plants, animals and fungi you can find in Merri-bek between Friday 28th and Monday 31st October 2022.
Let's keep building our database and understanding of Merri-bek's remarkable biodiversity!
During the 4-day window of this challenge, snap a photo of the wild plants, animals and fungi you can find and upload them to iNaturalist using the app on your smartphone, or the website on your computer.
The observations will automatically be pooled to this project so that we can compete with participating cities all over the southern half of the world!
Let's get out there and have fun! More information on the GSB can be found here: https://greatsouthernbiobl.wixsite.com/website We have a recorded three-part webinar series to help you become an urban nature explorer and prepare to participate in our citizen science events, which you can watch at any time.
The webinar series will guide you through the basics of using iNaturalist and showcase expert knowledge on how to discover and capture quality observations of the biodiversity around us. It doesn’t matter whether you are new to observing nature or not, this webinar series has something to offer for everyone!
