Coburg Historical Society - Walking Tour of The Grove
Merri-bek Park Estate was an early housing estate built in the 1880s by land developer Montague Dare, who has been described as trying to create the 'Toorak of the north'.
But everything did not go according to plan. The tour will see some of the houses built by Dare and still standing today, along with hearing about some of the facilities and sporting venues created to lure buyers north of the City of Melbourne.
